This antique confit jar is dated back to 1800, the classic urn shape with two handles would have been used to store food during the winter. Confit jars are only glazed to the top, as there were buried in the ground to store the food over the winter months.
Confit jars typically have a green or yellow glaze. This jar is rare as its green top has large yellow drips going down the pot. Jars like these are hard to come by as when they were made a mistake as this would normally be wasted as it was not perfect, making pieces with imperfections hard to find.
